About LetMeDrive

What is LetMeDrive?

LetMeDrive is a driving school with a difference. With our driving courses, the road to driving doesn’t have to be long. We specialise in beating standard DVSA waiting times for theory and practical tests by weeks or even months.

Why choose LetMeDrive?

Booking with LetMeDrive means choosing one of the UK’s leading driving schools. We offer intensive, refresher and semi-intensive driving courses which can help you get your licence within weeks, even if you’re a beginner.

Our intensive courses can fit around even the busiest of schedules, while still helping you to get on the road quickly. We’ll also fast-track your practical test as standard, so you can beat the usual waiting times.

What’s more, you can expect fantastic service at every step of the way from our DVSA-approved instructors and friendly Booking Agents. It’s no wonder that thousands of learners have already passed with us!

Which areas do we cover?

Although we are based in Birmingham, LetMeDrive is an expanding driving school and we aim to cover most of the UK.

Where is LetMeDrive based?

Our head office is located in Birmingham. Please note that your courses will not take place at these addresses; your instructor will pick you up from a location of your choice, such as your home or work.

About Our Courses

What is an intensive course?

Our intensive courses involve longer driving lessons, with each session lasting a minimum of two hours and a maximum of five hours. Typically, you’ll take lessons several days per week, with our most intensive course structure involving lessons every day. It is, however, possible to opt for a semi-intensive course, which is easier to fit around a busy schedule—an example of this would be taking two-hour sessions on given evenings.

What’s included in our courses?

Our driving courses offer everything you need to help you pass. This includes:

  • One-on-one tuition from a local, DVSA-approved driving instructor
  • Lessons that fit around your schedule
  • Home and workplace pickups
  • Support at every step from a dedicated Booking Agent
  • A fast-track practical test in the final hour of your course

We have a wide range of courses to suit all learners, from short refreshers for those with plenty of experience to comprehensive packages for beginners. Check out our driving courses rundown for full details on each, or visit our course recommender to find your ideal choice.

Which course is good for me?

We have nine different courses to choose from. You can find full details on all of them by visiting our driving courses rundown. When choosing your course, be mindful of your current driving ability and the experience you will need to gain in order to pass your test.

According to the DVSA, it takes an average of 45 hours of driving tuition to get up to test standard. If you are a complete beginner, we would therefore recommend taking one of our longer courses in order to ensure you are adequately prepared for the test. If you have some driving experience, a shorter course is likely to be more suitable. You can also contact us on info@letmedrive1st.co.uk and we team will help you to find the right course for your level of experience.

It’s also possible to take a course assessment with one of our instructors. This is a one-hour lesson where the instructor will honestly and critically assess your level of driving ability. At the end, they’ll recommend you the course best suited to your needs. You can book a course assessment online or over the phone for just £30.

What if I need to book more lessons?

It is usually possible to add more hours onto your course if required. To add extra hours during your course, get in touch with your driving instructor.

What if I don't use up all of my course hours?

If you end up taking fewer lessons than you booked, you can use these for further tuition. In some circumstances, it may be possible to receive a refund equivalent to the instructor’s fee for the unused hours.

Not sure how many hours you need? Try our course recommender for a personalised quote.

Do I need to save an hour from my course for the practical test?

If you book a course that includes a practical test, then the final hour will automatically be reserved for your test. For example, our 48 hour course would include 47 hours of lessons, plus the practical test.

In certain cases, more time may be reserved for the test. Should this be necessary, your instructor will discuss this with you ahead of time.

I’m a nervous driver – is this course right for me?

Nervous drivers are welcome at LetMeDrive. Our experienced, DVSA-approved instructors’ friendly and patient approach to driving tuition should help you feel more at ease behind the wheel. Our courses are accelerated, but never rushed. If you prefer, you can take your course at a semi-intensive pace, meaning that you don’t have to sacrifice your schedule for your lessons. Throughout your course, your instructor will pay careful attention to your progress, providing the guidance you need to help you become a safe and confident driver. Don’t worry, you’re in safe hands.

Can I choose the number of hours of lessons I take per day?

Together with your instructor, you’re free to decide on a lesson plan that works for you, helping you to pass quick even on a busy schedule. Our courses are fully flexible.

Do I have to do the course intensively?

No! Our courses are flexible and can be structured to suit your needs. Depending on your schedule and instructor’s availability, it’s possible to take as little as two hours of lessons per day, or as many as five hours. Check out our courses and discuss with your instructor, once booked, to ensure you are comfortable with how many hours you learn per day.

Am I guaranteed to pass?

LetMeDrive does not offer ‘guaranteed pass’ courses. This is for one simple reason: it’s impossible to guarantee the result of any test! Instead, we put our efforts into offering excellent tuition and customer service—things that can really make a difference when it comes to your practical. With a pass rate significantly higher than the national average, plus thousands of happy passers, it’s an approach that works!

If your practical test doesn’t go according to plan, you’ll be eligible for a discounted refresher course to ensure you get your licence on the next try. We’ll guarantee that you take your test at the same test centre—and you’ll keep the same instructor, ensuring you’ll be familiar with the car and local test routes. Best of all, we can typically secure you a test date within a month of your original test.

Can I have my course on weekends only?

Yes! If you have a tight schedule, it’s possible to arrange your course to take place on weekends only. If you’re interested in this option, please inform us of this when we call to discuss your booking, and we will be sure to assign you an instructor who can accommodate your request.

Do you do home pickups?

Yes! As standard, our instructors will pick you up and drop you off at a location of your choice.

Can I be picked up from my workplace?

Yes! Our instructors are usually able to make pickups and drop-offs at locations to suit you and them.

Can I change my instructor?

We appreciate that, in a small minority of cases, a pupil may be assigned an instructor that isn’t a good fit. In the unlikely scenario that any major issues arise relating to an instructor, we will work closely with the pupil to seek a suitable resolution, including the possibility of changing to a different instructor.

If you need to upgrade your course to include more hours, this is usually possible. However, you must let us know about this as soon as possible. Downgrading of courses is not usually permitted.

What happens if I finish my course without using up all of the hours that I booked?

In such circumstances, please contact us. We will assess each case on an individual basis, and may offer additional tuition, Pass Plus lessons or a refund as appropriate.

Can I change transmission?

Yes—this is possible in certain circumstances.

What happens if I need to cancel a lesson?

Your instructor will inform you of their policy regarding cancellations, which you are required to abide by. Typically, you will be required to give 24–48 hours’ notice.

What happens if I don't pass my practical test?

If you don’t pass, don’t worry! We have a number of options available to help make sure you get your licence next time around. We offer a 10% discount on any of our standard courses if you rebook with LetMeDrive. If you wish, we can also guarantee that you can take your new course with the same instructor or at the same test centre.

How do I make a complaint?

We always aim to provide exceptional service to all of our students. If anything’s going wrong, we want to fix it as soon as possible. To make a complaint, please email us at complaints@letmedrive1st.co.uk.
